A6 is not a 4 × 6 inch photo
A6 (105 × 148 mm) and the common 4 × 6 inch photo print (101.6 × 152.4 mm) look alike but are not interchangeable. The photo is 3.4 mm narrower and 4.4 mm taller. Printing a 4 × 6 photo on A6 stock with “fit to page” scales it to 97% and leaves blank slivers of about 3 mm at each side; printing an A6 design on 4 × 6 paper trims 3.4 mm across the width (1.7 mm each side) and leaves a 4.4 mm blank strip along the length. If you design postcards, set the size by the stock you will use.

An A4 sheet cut in half twice (once each way) gives four A6 cards, which is why print shops run postcards four-up on A4. Each size down halves the area, so A6 is one sixteenth of A2.
