How women's shoe sizes compare
Women's US sizes are two above UK sizes (a UK 5 is a US 7). European sizes are based on a different unit (the Paris point, two thirds of a centimetre), so they don't map perfectly and some brands round a UK 5 to EU 38 while others use 37.5.
The most reliable measure is foot length in centimetres. Stand on a sheet of paper, mark your heel and longest toe, and measure the gap. Japanese sizes simply use that length.
