Legal size in every unit

At 300 dpi, Legal is 2550 × 4200 pixels; at 150 dpi, 1275 × 2100; at 96 dpi, 816 × 1344.

There is no ISO equivalent

Legal is not close to any ISO size. B4 (250 × 353 mm) is 34 mm wider; A4 is 58.6 mm shorter. A Legal sheet is 215.9 mm wide, so it is wider than A4 (210 mm) and its length is 355.6 mm, which sits between A3 (420 mm) and A4 (297 mm). It fits inside an A3 sheet (297 × 420 mm) with 81 mm and 64 mm to spare, but not on A4.

Legal in other countries: 13 inches and 340 mm

Several countries that use Letter shorten Legal. In Chile the Legal (and “Foolscap”) sheet is 13 inches tall, one inch shorter than the US size, and in Mexico printer manufacturers recognise “oficio” as 13.4 inches (340 mm) long. Government Legal is 8.5 × 13 in (215.9 × 330.2 mm), and Junior Legal is 5 × 8 in. Printer drivers often list several of these, so select the right one for your tray. Envelopes for Legal paper

Legal folded in three is 8.5 × 4.67 inches, too tall for a No. 10 (4.125 in) or No. 11 (4.5 in) envelope; a No. 12 (4.75 × 11 in) takes it with only 0.08 in to spare. Folded in half, Legal is 8.5 × 7 inches and fits a 9 × 12 in catalog envelope. Flat Legal needs a 10 × 14 in envelope, a size listed in the Printer Working Group standard. See envelope sizes.
